Child support in Pennsylvania is determined under the Pennsylvania Child Support Guidelines. The court's child support order will be based on your and your spouse's incomes, the number of over-nights your child spends at each home, and day care costs. Other relevant factors include medical expenses and insurance costs, mortgage payments, and any special needs considerations. A child support order can be based upon unemployment compensation and if the other parent refuses to obtain appropriate employment, on their earning capacity.
