Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
Larry B. Maier: Lancaster County Bankruptcy Lawyer
Much of my legal practice involves representing average Americans with common problems. In today's difficult economic climate, an increasing number of clients come to me seeking relief from an overwhelming burden of debt. Depending on a client's specific situation, I may recommend filing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. -Attorney Larry B. Maier-
Filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy stops creditor harassment
If you are overwhelmed by credit card debt, medical bills or a delinquent mortgage or car payment, you have probably been the target of bill collectors. Harassing phone calls at home and at work, threats of repossession, foreclosure or garnishment of your wages-these must all stop pursuant to federal law when your lawyer files Chapter 7 bankruptcy on your behalf.
Discharge of debts-a fresh start
Chapter 7 bankruptcy is often called a "fresh-start" bankruptcy. During the process, the court may entirely cancel (discharge) unsecured debts such as credit card balances, medical bills and personal loans. Other debts, such as back child support cannot be discharged and must be paid, but, as your attorney, I may be able to negotiate favorable payment schedules that will allow you to get back on your feet.
Financial problems that lead to bankruptcy are often linked to other problems. As a family lawyer, I assist my clients with a number of issues, including divorce, real estate sales and landlord-tenant disputes.
